Gnome y KDE conviviendo: limpieza en los menús



GNU/Linux nos permite tener varios sistemas de escritorio diferentes instalados y funcionando, pero inevitablemente nos encontramos con una mezcla de opciones y programas de cada entorno en los menús principales. Existen aplicaciones precisamente para limpiar automáticamente las entradas del menú que no corresponden a tu sistema de escritorio habitual, y dejarlas apartadas y ordenadas de alguna manera. Con Gnome y KDE instalados a la vez, hay dos programas para aquellos Gnomeros que han querido probar KDE y para los KDEeros que han querido probar Gnome.


Gnome Menu Extended es el propio menú normal de Gnome, pero incluye una carpeta donde se guardan todas las aplicaciones y opciones de KDE. Se instala fácilmente descargando el paquete para cualquier distribución: Debian (y Ubuntu), Slackware o directamente el código fuente para compilarlo. Una vez instalado, se activa yendo a Preferencias -> Add KDE Menu. Y si quieres recuperar el menú como estaba, también tiene la opción de restaurarlo.

K Menu Gnome es un menú exactamente igual que el KMenu original, pero incluye una carpeta donde residen todas las aplicaciones de Gnome, en sistemas que tienen ambos escritorios instalados. Está disponible para Debian (y Ubuntu), Slackware, Fedora y el código fuente para compilarlo en cualquier sistema.

Yo me quedo con mi Gnome, pero con KDE 4.0 instalado para ir probándolo. Y los menús bien ordenados.

Instalar VMWare.

¿Cómo instalar VMWare?.

Hoy vamos a explicar como instalar VMWare.
En mi caso utilice Slackware 12.0, pero en Ubuntu y demás distribuciones es igual.
Primero vamos a descargar VMWare.


Para los Usuarios de Slackware; Verifíquen que se encuentren las carpetas:
/etc/rc1.d
/etc/rc2.d
/etc/rc3.d
/etc/rc4.d
/etc/rc5.d
/etc/rc6.d
/etc/pam.d
Si no se encuentran deben crearlas.

Muy bien, extraemos el archivo.
$ tar xvf VMware-server-1.0.4-56528.tar.gz
Vamos a la carpeta:
$ cd vmware-server-distrib/
Y ahora ejecutamos el siguiente comando como root:
# ./vmware-install.pl
Comienza el proceso:

Nos pregunta cual sera el directorio para los archivos binarios.
Precionamos Enter para aceptar.

1.4 "Licensed Additional Module" means
additional modules that may be provided
with and/or used in conjunction with the
Software for which you have paid the
applicable license fee and accepted any
applicable additional license terms.

1.5 "Open Source Software" means various open
source software components licensed under
the terms of applicable open source
license agreements included in the
materials relating to such software. Open
Source Software is composed of individual
software components, each of which has its
own copyright and its own applicable
license conditions. The Open Source
Software licenses can be found in the
open_source_licenses.txt file, other
materials accompanying the software
package, the documentation or
corresponding source files available at
http://www.vmware.com/download/open_source

1.6 "Processor" means a single, physical chip
that houses no more than two (2) processor
cores.

1.7 "Redistributable Components" means the
Legacy PERL/COM Client Runtime Library and
C API library that may be provided in
conjunction with the Software and licensed
under the Redistributable Components
product specific terms and conditions.

1.8 "Sample Programs" means sample client
management programs or scripts that may be
distributed with the Software.

1.9 "Server" means a single physical computer
of a type that meets the specifications as
set forth in the applicable product data
sheets or systems compatibility guide
posted at http://www.vmware.com. Multiple
computers that share processing power or
operate in a networked configuration as a
single logical computer, such as a "server
farm" or similar arrangement, constitute
multiple Servers for the purpose of this
EULA.

1.10 "Software" means software products that
are licensed to you under this EULA,
including, but not limited to, any related
components purchased or provided with the
Software, application programming
interfaces, associated media, printed
materials, online or electronic
documentation, and any updates and
maintenance releases thereto.

1.11 "Software License Key" means, if
applicable, a serial number issued to you
by VMware to activate and use the
Software. A separate, additional
Software License Key may be required to
activate and use each Licensed Additional
Module.

1.12 "VMware Tools" means a suite of
utilities and drivers that may enhance the
performance and functionality of your
Guest Operating System. VMware Tools may
include some or all of the following,
depending on your Guest Operating System:
an SVGA driver, a mouse driver, the VMware
Tools control panel and support for
features such as shared folders, drag and
drop in Windows guests, shrinking virtual
disks, time synchronization with the host,
VMware Tools scripts, and connection and
disconnection of devices while the virtual
machine is running.

1.13 "Virtual Machine" means an instance of a
Guest Operating System and any application
programs installed thereon, running on a
computing device on which the Software is
installed, or suspended to disk or any
other storage media accessible by the
computing device.

1.14 "VMTN Software" means Software received
by you pursuant to a VMware Technology
Network subscription.

2. EVALUATION LICENSES

2.1 General. If available, the Software and
each Licensed Additional Module may be
activated with no-cost evaluation Software
License Key(s). Evaluation Software
License Keys have an expiration date
("Expiration Date").

2.2 Evaluation License. If you activate the
Software or any Licensed Additional Module
with an evaluation Software License Key
("Evaluation Product") you may use the
Evaluation Product until the Expiration
Date only to evaluate the suitability of
the Evaluation Product for licensing on a
for-fee basis. You may acquire evaluation
Software License Key(s) for Licensed
Additional Modules. In such case, the
Licensed Additional Modules are licensed
to you subject to the terms of this
"EVALUATION LICENSES" section.

2.3 Evaluation Product Warranty Disclaimer.
During the use of the Evaluation Product,
the limited 90-day warranty referenced in
Section 7.1 below is not applicable to
you. THE EVALUATION PRODUCT IS PROVIDED
TO YOU "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY
KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY,
OR OTHERWISE. VMWARE BEARS NO LIABILITY
FOR ANY DAMAGES RESULTING FROM USE (OR
ATTEMPTED USE) OF THE EVALUATION PRODUCT

3. GRANT AND USE RIGHTS FOR SOFTWARE.

3.1 License. The Software is licensed, not

VMware hereby grants you a non-exclusive,
non-transferable license, without rights
to sublicense, to use the object code of
the Software for the purpose as set forth
in the applicable documentation for the
Software and to the extent permitted by
your payment of applicable license fees
under a VMware approved licensing model
and/or your Software License Key subject
to the software product specific terms
specified in this EULA. Depending upon
the model utilized to compute the
applicable license fees paid by you to use
the Software (whether per Processor, per
Virtual Machine, per user, or any other
VMware approved licensing model), an
applicable Software License Key may limit
your usage of the Software accordingly.
You may use the documentation accompanying
the Software in connection with permitted
uses of the Software. Notwithstanding
anything to the contrary herein, in the
event that you have licensed VMware
Infrastructure - Starter Edition, your
license to use such Software is restricted
to a Server that has no more than eight
gigabytes (8 GB) of physical memory.

3.2 License Limitations. You may not copy the
Software except for a reasonable number of
machine-readable copies of the Software
for backup or archival purposes and except
as expressly permitted in this EULA. You
may not remove any titles, trademarks or
trade names, copyright notices, legends,
or other proprietary markings on the
Software. You are not granted any rights
to any trademarks or service marks of
VMware. VMware retains all rights not
expressly granted to you.

3.3 Restrictions. You may not (i) sell,
lease, license, sublicense, distribute or
otherwise transfer in whole or in part the
Software or the Software License Key to
another party; (ii) provide, disclose,
divulge or make available to, or permit
use of the Software in whole or in part
by, any third party (except Designated
Administrative Access) without VMware's
prior written consent; or (iii) modify or
create derivative works based upon the
Software. Except to the extent expressly
permitted by applicable law, and to the
extent that VMware is not permitted by
that applicable law to exclude or limit
the following rights, you may not
decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer,
or otherwise attempt to derive source code
from the Software, in whole or in part.
You may use the Software to conduct
internal performance testing and
benchmarking studies, the results of which
you (and not unauthorized third parties)
may publish or publicly disseminate;
provided that VMware has reviewed and
approved of the methodology, assumptions
and other parameters of the study. Please
contact VMware at benchmark@vmware.com to
request such review.

3.4 GPL Software. You can redistribute and/or
modify the GPL Software under the terms of
the GPL. You may obtain a copy of the
source code corresponding to the binaries
for the GPL Software (the "GPL Source

defend VMware from and against any claims
or lawsuits, including attorneys' fees,

distribution of the Virtual Machine you

trademarks to indicate that the Virtual
Machine you create with the Software are
compatible with or designed for use with
the Software.

3.6 Licenses required for third-party
software. The Software enables you to run
multiple instances of third-party guest
operating systems and application
programs. You are responsible for
obtaining any licenses necessary to
operate any such third-party software,
including Guest Operating Systems.

3.7 Sample Programs. The Software may include
Sample Programs. You may use and
distribute Sample Programs under the terms
set forth in the applicable Sample
Programs files. VMware does not provide
support services for Sample Programs.

3.8 VMware License Programs. VMware makes
available VMware License programs (for
e.g., VMware Academic License, VMTN). If
you have received the Software pursuant to
these VMware License programs, the then-
current terms and conditions posted on
http://www.vmware.com for that program
shall apply for use of the products under
such VMware License programs.

4. TITLE. VMware retains all right, title,
and interest in and to the Software and
the Software License Key and in all
related copyrights, trade secrets,
patents, trademarks, and any other
intellectual and industrial property and
proprietary rights, including
registrations, applications, renewals, and
extensions of such rights.

5. SUPPORT AND SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES NOT
INCLUDED

VMware will not provide any support
services under this EULA. This EULA does
not give you any rights to any updates or
upgrades to the Software or to any
extensions or enhancements to the Software
developed by VMware at any time in the
future. VMware may offer support and
subscription services separately. If you
have purchased VMware support and
subscription services with the Software,
these services are provided to you under
the Support Contract Terms and Conditions
posted on VMware's Web site at
http://www.vmware.com/support and by
accepting the terms of this EULA you are
accepting these Support Contract Terms and
Conditions. Any supplemental software
code or related materials that VMware
provides to you as part of any support and
subscription services are to be considered

6. TERMINATION

6.1 Termination. VMware may terminate this
EULA immediately and without notice if you

6.2 Effect of Termination. In the event of
termination, you must destroy all copies
of the Software and Software License Key.
In addition you must remove all copies of
the Software, including all backup copies,
from the Server and all computers and
terminals on which it is installed. From
time to time, VMware may change the terms
of this EULA. VMware will notify you of
such change. Your continued use of the
Software will indicate your agreement to
the change.

7. LIMITED WARRANTY AND LIMITATION OF
LIABILITY

7.1 Limited Warranty. VMware warrants that the
media, if any, on which the Software is
delivered will be free of defects and that
the Software will substantially conform to
the description contained in the
applicable end user documentation in each
case for a period of 90 days after the
date of shipment of the Software License
Key. EXCEPT FOR THE PRECEDING EXPRESS
LIMITED WARRANTY, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT
PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, VMWARE
PROVIDES THE SOFTWARE WITHOUT ANY
WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS, IMPLIED,

APPLICABLE LAW, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER

8. GENERAL

8.1 Entire Agreement. This Agreement sets
forth VMware's entire liability and your
exclusive remedy with respect to the
Software and supersedes the terms of any
purchase orders and any other
communications or advertising with respect
to the Software. You acknowledge that this
Agreement is a complete statement of the
agreement between you and VMware with
respect to the Software, and that there
are no other prior or contemporaneous
understandings, promises, representations,
or descriptions with respect to the
Software.

8.2 Headings. Headings under this EULA are
intended only for convenience and shall
not affect the interpretation of this
EULA.

8.3 Waiver and Modification. No failure of
either party to exercise or enforce any of
its rights under this EULA will act as a
waiver of those rights. This EULA may
only be modified, or any rights under it
waived, by a written document executed by
the party against which it is asserted.

8.4 Severability. If any provision of this
EULA is found illegal or unenforceable, it
will be enforced to the maximum extent
permissible, and the legality and
enforceability of the other provisions of
this EULA will not be affected.

8.5 Governing Law. This EULA will be governed
by California law and the United States of
America, without regard to its choice of
law principles. The United Nations
Convention for the International Sale of
Goods shall not apply.

8.6 Government Restrictions. You may not
export or re-export the Software except in
compliance with the United States Export
Administration Act and the related rules
and regulations and similar non-U.S.
government restrictions, if applicable.
The Software and accompanying
documentation are deemed to be "commercial
computer software" and "commercial
computer software documentation,"
respectively, pursuant to DFAR
Section 227.7202 and FAR
Section 12.212(b), as applicable. Any
use, modification, reproduction, release,
performing, displaying, or disclosing of
the Software by the U.S. Government shall
be governed solely by the terms of this
EULA.

conditions and the preceding sections, the
product-specific terms and conditions shall
control.


9.1 VMware Server:

(a) Additional Definitions:

"VMware Server Console" is a proprietary
console component included with the Software.

(b) Additional License Terms:

VMware grants you a nonexclusive,
nontransferable license, without rights to
sublicense, to (i) install or have installed a
single instance of the Software on a single
Server, unless permitted by VMware to have a
single instance of the Software on multiple
Servers; (ii) use the Software solely for your
own internal information processing services
and computing needs in connection with
permitted uses of the Software, including the
hosting of computer application-based services
from a Virtual Machine and provision of such
services via an internal or external network,
provided such services may not consist of
services to a third party that provide
primarily computing or processing power (such
as utility computing or grid computing) or any
computer application-based service that is
traded, rented, leased or sold on a Virtual
Machine basis; (iii) use and reproduce the
VMware Server Console for installation and
operation on an unlimited number of your own
internal computers or terminals solely for the
purpose of accessing the Server on which the
Software is installed; (iv) internally use and
reproduce the Redistributable Components to
create programs that interface with the
Redistributable Components to manage Virtual
Machines ("Your Management Programs"); and (v)
internally use Your Management Programs solely
for the purpose of managing Virtual Machines
operated on VMware software products installed
on your own internal Servers and computers.

Software may not be used by any other person,

Software for which you have paid the
applicable license fee and accepted any
applicable additional license terms.

1.5 "Open Source Software" means various open
source software components licensed under
the terms of applicable open source
license agreements included in the
materials relating to such software. Open
Source Software is composed of individual
software components, each of which has its
own copyright and its own applicable
license conditions. The Open Source
Software licenses can be found in the
open_source_licenses.txt file, other
materials accompanying the software
package, the documentation or

including, but not limited to, any related
components purchased or provided with the
Software, application programming
interfaces, associated media, printed
materials, online or electronic
documentation, and any updates and
maintenance releases thereto.

1.11 "Software License Key" means, if
applicable, a serial number issued to you
by VMware to activate and use the
Software. A separate, additional
Software License Key may be required to
activate and use each Licensed Additional
Module.

1.12 "VMware Tools" means a suite of
utilities and drivers that may enhance the
performance and functionality of your
Guest Operating System. VMware Tools may
include some or all of the following,
depending on your Guest Operating System:
an SVGA driver, a mouse driver, the VMware
Tools control panel and support for
features such as shared folders, drag and
drop in Windows guests, shrinking virtual
disks, time synchronization with the host,
VMware Tools scripts, and connection and
disconnection of devices while the virtual
machine is running.

1.13 "Virtual Machine" means an instance of a
Guest Operating System and any application
programs installed thereon, running on a
computing device on which the Software is
installed, or suspended to disk or any
other storage media accessible by the
computing device.

1.14 "VMTN Software" means Software received
by you pursuant to a VMware Technology
Network subscription.

2. EVALUATION LICENSES

2.1 General. If available, the Software and
each Licensed Additional Module may be
activated with no-cost evaluation Software
License Key(s). Evaluation Software
License Keys have an expiration date
("Expiration Date").

2.2 Evaluation License. If you activate the
Software or any Licensed Additional Module
with an evaluation Software License Key
("Evaluation Product") you may use the
Evaluation Product until the Expiration
Date only to evaluate the suitability of
the Evaluation Product for licensing on a
for-fee basis. You may acquire evaluation
Software License Key(s) for Licensed
Additional Modules. In such case, the
Licensed Additional Modules are licensed
to you subject to the terms of this
"EVALUATION LICENSES" section.

2.3 Evaluation Product Warranty Disclaimer.
During the use of the Evaluation Product,
the limited 90-day warranty referenced in
Section 7.1 below is not applicable to
you. THE EVALUATION PRODUCT IS PROVIDED
TO YOU "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY

Infrastructure - Starter Edition, your

3.2 License Limitations. You may not copy the
Software except for a reasonable number of
machine-readable copies of the Software
for backup or archival purposes and except
as expressly permitted in this EULA. You
may not remove any titles, trademarks or

Software. You are not granted any rights

the following rights, you may not

Sample Programs. You may use and
distribute Sample Programs under the terms
set forth in the applicable Sample
Programs files. VMware does not provide

3.8 VMware License Programs. VMware makes
available VMware License programs (for
e.g., VMware Academic License, VMTN). If
you have received the Software pursuant to
these VMware License programs, the then-
current terms and conditions posted on
http://www.vmware.com for that program
shall apply for use of the products under
such VMware License programs.

4. TITLE. VMware retains all right, title,
and interest in and to the Software and
the Software License Key and in all
related copyrights, trade secrets,
patents, trademarks, and any other

proprietary rights, including
registrations, applications, renewals, and
extensions of such rights.

5. SUPPORT AND SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES NOT

6. TERMINATION

In addition you must remove all copies of
the Software, including all backup copies,
from the Server and all computers and
terminals on which it is installed. From
time to time, VMware may change the terms
of this EULA. VMware will notify you of
such change. Your continued use of the
Software will indicate your agreement to

7. LIMITED WARRANTY AND LIMITATION OF
LIABILITY

7.1 Limited Warranty. VMware warrants that the
media, if any, on which the Software is
delivered will be free of defects and that
the Software will substantially conform to
the description contained in the
applicable end user documentation in each
case for a period of 90 days after the
date of shipment of the Software License

8. GENERAL

forth VMware's entire liability and your

respect to the Software, and that there
are no other prior or contemporaneous

8.2 Headings. Headings under this EULA are
intended only for convenience and shall

8.3 Waiver and Modification. No failure of
either party to exercise or enforce any of
its rights under this EULA will act as a
waiver of those rights. This EULA may
only be modified, or any rights under it
waived, by a written document executed by
the party against which it is asserted.

8.4 Severability. If any provision of this
EULA is found illegal or unenforceable, it
will be enforced to the maximum extent
permissible, and the legality and
enforceability of the other provisions of
this EULA will not be affected.

8.5 Governing Law. This EULA will be governed
by California law and the United States of
America, without regard to its choice of
law principles. The United Nations
Convention for the International Sale of
Goods shall not apply.

8.6 Government Restrictions. You may not
export or re-export the Software except in
compliance with the United States Export
Administration Act and the related rules
and regulations and similar non-U.S.
government restrictions, if applicable.
The Software and accompanying
documentation are deemed to be "commercial
computer software" and "commercial
computer software documentation,"
respectively, pursuant to DFAR
Section 227.7202 and FAR
Section 12.212(b), as applicable. Any
use, modification, reproduction, release,
performing, displaying, or disclosing of
the Software by the U.S. Government shall
be governed solely by the terms of this
EULA.

Acrobat Reader - Instalación.

Hoy les explicaré como instalar Acrobat Reader en GNU/Linux.
La distribución que utilizaré será Slackware, pero el procedimiento es igual.
Primero debemos descargar Adobe Acrobat Reader.


Ahora lo descomprimimos:
$ tar xvzf AdobeReader_esp-8.1.1-1.i486.tar.gz
Vamos al directorio de Adobe:
$ cd AdobeReader
Y para instalarlo tipeamos:
$ ./INSTALL
Nos dirá que la instalación requiere 127 MB aproximadamente.
This installation requires 127 MB of free disk space.
Y ahora nos preguntará en que directorio se instalará Adobe Acrobat Reader.

En mi caso lo instalé en /home/eric/AcrobatReader.

Instalar Flash Player 9 de forma manual.

Muy bien, hoy vamos a proceder a instalar Flash Player 9 de forma manual.
Primero vamos a la página oficial de Flash Player y descargamos el archivo .tar.gz.


Muy bien ahora, debemos extraer el archivo .tar.gz.
Para ésto tipeamos:
$ tar xvzf install_flash_player_9_linux.tar.gz
El paso siguiente es posicionarce en la carpeta recien extraída:
$ cd install_flash_player_9_linux
Procedemos con la instalación:
$ ./flashplayer-installer
Ahora nos dirá el directorio del navegador.
En mi caso Mozilla Firefox.
Mozilla installation directory = /home/eric/.mozilla
Aceptamos colocando un "y".

Por último nos dirá si queremos instalarlo en otro navegador.

Guake.

En entradas anteriores había hablado sobre Yakuake (proyecto de KDE).
Guake cumple las mismas funciones que Yakuake y a diferencia éste puede tener transparencias en otros entornos gráficos.
Lo que pueden hacer es instalar el paquete deb disponible para Ubuntu o bien descargando y compilando el código fuente.









Una vez instalado el paquete debemos tipear en un terminal:

$ gconftool-2 --install-schema-file=/usr/etc/gconf/schemas/guake.schemas

Podemos realizar modificaciones desde sus preferencias.

El slapt-get es un programa similar al famoso apt-get de Debian. Es un manejador de paquetes que automáticamente descarga e instala programas.

Configurar internet en Slackware.

Generalmente para ingresar a internet debemos configurar nuestras placas de red.
Primero debemos verificar que se encuentren up.
Para ello tipeamos:

ifconfig

Si nos muestra por ejemplo: eth1 / eth0 quiere decir que están up.
Si no lo estan debemos tipear en el terminal.

ifconfig placa up

Donde placa es nuestro dispositivo de red, como por ejemplo: eth1.
Y si queremos asignarle una ip colocamos.

ifconfig placa up LAIP

Una ves que hayamos colocado nuestras placas podemos hacer un ping con nuestro server y también con google.

ping xxx.xxx.x.x
ping www.google.com.ar

También para configurar nuestras placas podemos hacer lo siguiente:

Editamos:
/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf (debes hacerlo como root para poder guardar los cambios)

Busca estás líneas:

# Config information for eth0:
IPADDR[0]=""
NETMASK[0]=""
USE_DHCP[0]=""
DHCP_HOSTNAME[0]=""

Y llenalas asi:

# Config information for eth0:
IPADDR[0]=""
NETMASK[0]=""

despues ejecutas en la consola como root, para reiniciar el servicio inetd

/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 restart

Ahora bien... Tenemos las placas de red up , solo nos restaría colocar las dns de nuestra conexión.
Para ello editamos el archivo /etc/resolv.conf.
Y agregamos por ejemplo:

search namehost
nameserver dns1
nameserver dns2

Otro metodo de configurar la conexión es agregando a tu servidor como gateway por default.

route add default gw 192.168.2.1 ethX

(Donde X es el dispositivo conectado a la red).

Y listo, con esto deberiamos tener internet.

Otra opción para configurar la red es utilizar el comando netconfig.
Seguimos las instrucciones a continuación y listo.

Instalar Slackware 10.2

Instalar Slackware 10.2 Paso a Paso.

Antes de instalar Slackware, quiero hacer una aclaración. Existen muchos manuales muy detallados y con mucha teoría sobre la instalación de Slackware.
Este documento solo pretende ser una guía paso a paso para que cualquier persona pueda lograr una instalación básica con un entorno gráfico.

Antes de empezar tenejos que saber cuanto espacio libre tenejos en el disco y como particionarlo, esta distribución trae algunos programas para particionar, pero no permiten redimensionar el disco. Yo particularmente utilizo otra herramienta para particionar que si me permite redimensionar, el Qtparted que viene en la live cd system rescue,

http://www.sysresccd.org/.

Pueden encontrar un pequeño manual de cómo utilizarlo.

Bueno para empezar a instalar tienen que poner el cd en la lectora y configurar la máquina para que bootee desde lahí (cuando la maquina inicia tienen que entrar al setup y poner en el orden de booteo la lectora de cd como primera), si todo sale bien en mas o menos una hora por mas que instalen todos los paquetes (3 GB) tendrán Slackware instalado en sus máquinas.





La primera pantalla les permite agregar parámetros extras al kernel que van a utilizar en la instalación, mas tarde pueden cambiar y elegir con cual se quieren quedar instalado. Enter y seguijos.




En la siguiente pantalla elegijos el idioma del teclado, elegijos 1, el idioma español es qwerty/es.map.
Lo probajos, (la ñ no va a funcionar, quédense tranquilos, pero lo importante es que ubique bien los guiones y las otras teclas). Para salir presionen 1.






Para seguir escriban setup.
Ahora como les decía, pueden particionar el disco con:
cfdisk, fdisk




O activar cosas para otro tipo de instalación como puede ser por red (activate network).
Si ya tenejos el disco preparado escribijos setup.


En el menú semi-gráfico podejos empezar a configurar todo para la instalación:





  1. Help: Leer el archivo de ayuda para la instalación de Slackware.
  2. Keymap: Remapear tu teclado si no estas usando el US.
  3. Addswap: Configurar la partición(es) swap.
  4. Target: Configurar la partición destino.
  5. Source: Seleccionar el medio fuente.
  6. Select: Seleccionar las categorías de software a instalar.
  7. Install: Instalar el software previamente seleccionado.
  8. Configure: Reconfigurar tu sistema Linux.
  9. Exit: Salir del programa de instalación.

Lo primero es elegir la partición swap, vajos a set up your swap, como ven es muy intuitivo, Después elegijos la partición donde se va a alojar / , ponejos /dev/hd**, la letra del disco varia de la partición y cantidad de discos (hda1, hda2, hdb etc) elegijos darle formato, yo por mi parte elegí reiserfs, también podejos elegir si querejos instalar otros directorios como /home en otras particiones, para una instalación básica solo con instalar el directorio " / " alcanza.
Slackware nos va a decir, si es que las tenejos, que encontró particiones del tipo NTFS o FAT, (podejos hacer que estas particiones estén accesibles desde Linux), para eso le decijos que si, y elegijos donde las vajos a montar en el fstab, les recomiendo ponerlas en /mnt/documentos o /mnt/windows o como quieran pero para mantener la prolijidad las dejajos en /mnt y no en cualquier lado.













La instalación la podejos hacer desde:
  • un cd o dvd.
  • desde un disco rígido
  • la red.
  • Un directorio pre montado.

Si es una instalación normal elegijos desde cd.
Nos pregunta si querejos que se detecte automáticamente el dispositivo de cd o lo querejos hacer manualmente, si la maquina ya reconoció la lectora les recomiendo que pongan automático.





A la hora de elegir que vajos a instalar, tenejos las opciones:
  • full (instala todo pero kde nos puede quedar en ingles)
  • expert
  • menú (esta es la que recomiendo si quieren ver mas o menos que están instalando)
  • newbie (no la recomiendo, no es sano, nos pregunta paquete por paquete si querejos o no instalarlo)
  • etc




La próxima opción es buscar otro kernel o quedarnos con el que veníajos usando:
buscar en boot disk
  • cdrom
  • floppy
  • skip (saltear este paso y seguir con el actual)




si se quieren quedar con el que venían usando pongan skip

Crear un disco de booteo:
  • crear
  • continuar sin crearlo

Si nuestro modem fue reconocido y sabejos bien como se llama podejos elegirlo ahora.

Les paso a rápido modo lo que elegí en las otras opciones:

enable Hot Plug subsystem at boot: "yes"





Hotplug es un subsistema que usa el kernel de Linux para activar hardware que
es conectado en un sistema que esta actualmente corriendo.


Install LILO:
LILO es el gestor de arranque que nos va a permitir elegir, si tenejos más de un sistema operativo, con cual arrancar. Por default si tenejos windows y Linux va a bootear windows y nos va a dar un tiempo de dos minutos para elegir con que sistema vajos a empezar.



Las opciones son:
Simple (esta elegí yo)
Experto
Skip

Frame buffer console (para LILO): "estándar"

LILO append (kernel parameters): "nada"

LILO destination:
Root
floppy
MBR (esta elegí yo)

lo mas normal es instalarlo en el MBR que es el primer sector del disco, para que al encender la maquina sea lo primero en bootear.





Mouse: "ps2"

GPM (para tener copy-paste (copiar-pegar) en las consolas virtuales): "yes"

Si tenejos una red ponejos Network: "yes".
Hostname ponejos el nombre que tendrá nuestra maquina en la red.
Domain Name escribijos el dominio si es que tenejos uno, o ponejos el nombre del grupo de trabajo.
IP bueno podejos elegir entre statica, DHCP o loopback, yo elegí statica.
Netmask 255.255.255.0.
Gateway (en mi caso la dirección de IP del firewall), Name Server.


Cuando la maquina inicia podejos tener algunos servicios corriendo o no para eso los elegijos ahora.

Seguijos configurando mas cosas

Console font: "no"

Hardware clock set to utc: "no"

Zona horaria: "América /Buenos_Aires"

Default window manager for X.
acá podejos elegir entre fluxbox, kde y otros, (si tienen poca memoria es mejor utilizar fluxbox porque es más liviana, pero si pueden elijan KDE)

Ahora solo resta elegir la password para el usuario root y listo.

Escribijos Exit y ya hejos terminado con la instalación.

Instalar Slackware 10.2 Paso a Paso.

Antes de instalar Slackware, quiero hacer una aclaración. Existen muchos manuales muy detallados y con mucha teoría sobre la instalación de Slackware.
Este documento solo pretende ser una guía paso a paso para que cualquier persona pueda lograr una instalación básica con un entorno gráfico.

Antes de empezar tenejos que saber cuanto espacio libre tenejos en el disco y como particionarlo, esta distribución trae algunos programas para particionar, pero no permiten redimensionar el disco. Yo particularmente utilizo otra herramienta para particionar que si me permite redimensionar, el Qtparted que viene en la live cd system rescue,
